Christmas Craft Retreat Day Fun!

On Saturday I held an all day Christmas Craft Retreat Day!

It was a full day of crafting, coffee, tea, cake, lunch, cake and did I say cake?

Each of the ladies received enough goodies in their kit bags to make four of each of five designs of Christmas card. with loads left over. So they could if they wished take home 20 Christmas handmade cards all ready to send for Christmas.

My fabulous team member Linda popped in for a while and helped out! Thank you Linda . It was lovely to see you!

It was a lovely day, full of laughter, crafting and lots of fun. We had experienced crafters of many years through to absolutely brand new stampers. It was absolutely heart warming to see the all the ladies helping each other along.

 Lots of stamping

and die cutting

We had a beautiful sponge cake and chocolate dipped flapjacks for elevenses, and for lunch
soup and warm rolls followed by hot mince pies or Christmas cake - It was Christmas crafting after all!

No foodie pics this time I'm afraid. I didn't think to take any before we tucked in!

 One lady's growing card stack.

Envelopes were stamped and embossed too. No naked envelopes here!

I did a raffle too. For this limited availability lovely stamp set.

It really was a lovely day and I am so thankful to my ladies that came and made it so special!  As always when you do an event like this you can see what tweaks can be made to make it even more fun and I am already planning the next!

Why I Stamp.

It is half term and yesterday the sun shone!  I have an allotment with two dear friends and we grow all sorts. It has grown gradually from one, five pole plot to three. So to mark the end of our allotment growing season we took the children with us and headed down there for a barbecue and some fun. It was beautiful! So warm. One of those rare sunny days you sometimes get in October.

I brought the children back to mine and they played happily whilst I got on with preparations for my Christmas Craft Retreat Day I am holding on Saturday. I have lots of ladies coming and lots of kits to prep. I have had such fun planning it and designing the cards we are going to make. We are going to have such a lovely day paper crafting and getting ahead for Christmas. I cant wait!
Yesterday I had a Stampin Up errand to run in a nearby village so I took my youngest with me and we combined it with a rather nice lunch out.  And there was cake!

In the evening I held our monthly meeting for my team. A lovely, relaxed informal affair. coffee, chat , Stampin Up news and a fun make n take. We have had so many fabulous offers and news from Stampin Up this month and are looking forward already to the release of the new Spring Summer Catalogue too. Lots of excitement around being able to see this from early November if you are a demonstrator. So we had lots to chat about and one of my team brought her set of brand new Blends along for us to try out too. This is a brand new range of alcohol markers coming out from Stampin Up. They wont be available  to buy until November 1st,

Its back to school for the children on Monday and I shall be back on the school run. The school calendar of events will be ramping up ready for Christmas before you know it and my diary will be full. My favourite time of the year!

What has this got to do with Stamping? Well for me, everything. My job is my passion. I can create, have fun, share inspiration and learn from others. I have a huge amount of fun at events and I can hold my own. I can support my team and they support me. I can do the school run, have no worries about taking time off if one of my children is ill and I can attend all of those school events. I decide my diary. My time is my own!  I can spend half term making memories with my children. After years of nursing and shift work and the constant struggle of balancing work and family life, this is absolutely amazing. to know I can be there, I wont be working Christmas or all the school holidays, I wont be missing Nativity plays (yes I has to do that once!)  And then there is the joy on the face of a new stamper when they stamp for the first time and they love it, or that my ladies at Coffee and Cards keep coming back each week. How fabulous is that! Or  sending a hand made card in the post to brighten someones day.

It is so much more than ink and paper.
This is why I stamp.

Simple Sunflower Thank You Card . Painted Harvest.

Such a simple card to make, but the two step stamping makes these sunflower images stunning.

You can completely change the look of your card depending on your colour combinations.  I tried a few out here.

I decided to go with the traditional yellows for this card with Crushed Curry and Pumpkin Pie for the flowers and the centres in Soft Suede. The fern type leaves are stamped in Old Olive. I used Daffodil Delight for my layer and Whisper White for my base card. I have stamped the sentiment straight onto the card in Early Espresso Ink.  For a quick card I think it looks lovely, these sunflowers don't need much dressing up but if you were to step it up then some of the Burlap Ribbon that is in the Stampin Up Autumn Catalogue would compliment it well.  These sunflowers would be great teamed up with any sentiment for any occasion too. it doesn't have to be a Thank You card. Don't forget to stamp a sunflower on your envelope too!

I hope you like it. If you already have this set then do experiment stamping with lots of different colours to achieve different looks. If not you can purchase it  here  in my online store if you'd like.

All the products I use are from Stampin Up. If you would like to purchase any, click on the product images below. They will take you to my on line shop.

Easy, Autumnal Thank You Card.

The Painted Harvest stamp set from Stampin Up is stunning with its glorious sunflower images and is perfect for that Autumn feel we have right now. I have been using it oh so much. It is easy to overlook the gorgeous little acorn stamp that is part of that set too.

So I thought I would make a quick card with it. I have used Whisper White card for my base and Early Espresso card stock for my layer with a top layer of Whisper White which is fantastic for stamping on. I have randomly stamped my acorn cups in Early Espresso and the acorn in in Soft Suede. The fern leaf which is also part of the set is stamped in Pear Pizzazz ink. I have left a gap in between my stamped acorns and have stamped my sentiment in Early Espresso over the leaf stamp. It is a deep enough colour to show up well.

I hope you like my quick card today. I think it shows off the acorn stamps well. It also looks gorgeous stamped in other colours too. Pop by tomorrow to see another card , this time with the sunflowers from this set. Its a beautiful stamp set, so easy to make beautiful stamped images with.

All the products I use are from Stampin Up. If you would like to purchase any, click on the product images below. They will take you to my on line shop.

Coffee and Cards, Quirky Critters and Happily More at More +

How fabulous to have so many people come to Coffee and Cards today!  I look forward to half term because we often have a few more who can't usually come. Today we had lots!

We spread out over a few tables.

I welcome everyone to Coffee and Cards including accompanied children and I knew I would have a few today so as well as using the planned Painted Harvest stamp set I also included some cards made with the Quirky Critters stamps set and my water colour pencils for a little more fun!

These are the youngest attendees at Coffee and Cards today. Charlie made a beautiful card with snail on from the Quirky Critters stamp set.

And just how adorable are these two beauties! and so well behaved too.  They certainly brightened everyones day.

I hold it at More + Community Coffee Shop on Parton Road in Aylesbury every Monday morning and this morning they were so helpful and accommodating as
we took over half the Coffee shop for a couple of hours! The coffee is great and some of us partook in their delicious cakes and bacon sandwiches too!

Some of the fabulous Quirky Critters cards in the making.

We made some beautiful cards using the Painted Harvest stamps. I tried out some different colour combinations and took them along to show the ladies the different effects you can get using the same stamps but with different colour inks.

Just a few of the lovely cards that were made today. I was delighted that so many came!

I hold Coffee and Cards every Monday morning 10 - 12 at More + Coffee Shop on Parton Rd in Aylesbury. Bucks. Do drop by if you would like to join us . I would love to have you. No crafting experience required. £5 to make 2 beautiful hand made cards. Includes supplies, tuition and also your hot drink.

Spooky Night Halloween Treat Cups!

Witches Brew With Scream and Sugar!

How fun are these?

I have covered the cups in this fun Halloween paper called Spooky Cat. Inside the cups is a cello bag filled with sweet treats - Mine are popping candy chocolate spiders. The colours were perfect! You can put anything you like in. I have tied the top with the Shimmer Ribbon in Black to secure. I have stamped the cup using the Merry Cafe stamp set.  I think they would make perfect place settings at a Halloween party and the cup can be used to drink out of too. Alternatively they make great packaging if you are gifting sweet treats.

Its very simple to do. I used one of the cups as a template to ensure a quick easy fit of the paper to the cup.

Here is the You tube tutorial for how I made them

I really hope you like this fun little project. Give me a thumbs up if you do. and click on the subscribe button at the top for my posts to drop into your inbox if you don't want to miss anything!
